Initially focusing on enabling technology transformation through EHR implementations, Falcon has diversified its service delivery portfolio through the acquisition of top-tier talent from industry leading consulting firms, leading health care organizations and EHR vendors. Leadership Team

Brendan Downing


Brendan is responsible for the leadership and strategic vision of Falcon Consulting both client facing and internal operations. Brendan has been involved in nearly 20 healthcare EHR implementations and has always enjoyed solving complex operational problems with technology enablement. Brendan brings this passion to the strategic development of relationships and client delivery solutions. Prior to the inception of Falcon, Brendan worked at Epic implementing revenue cycle solutions at large Academic Medical Centers.

Michael Melnik

Client Relations Partner

Michael is responsible for business development and strategic recruiting at Falcon. He currently serves as an account manager for many of Falcon’s larger accounts, to ensure successful engagements and client satisfaction. Michael has worked on a variety of revenue-cycle implementation and optimization projects while at Falcon, ranging from small community and academic medical centers to overseeing the business applications team at one of the nation's largest health systems.  Prior to the inception of Falcon, Michael worked at Epic managing complex Revenue Cycle and Ambulatory Application implementations across the country.

Paul Buonopane

VP of Consulting Services

Paul has 15 years of experience in healthcare finance and technology transformation delivery. Paul served in Deloitte Consulting’s National Strategy and Operations Healthcare Provider Practice for over a decade, and brings sound leadership and deep perspective to our clients and our business. His client services focus on the highest level of engagements including: leading complex strategy design, governance and leadership advisory services, and organizational financial turn around. As Vice President, Paul is responsible for leading the strategic direction of Professional Services, Tools Development and Analytical Strategies.

Matt Curren

Executive Director of Consulting Services

Matt possess 10 years of industry and consulting leadership experience in some of the country’s largest and most reputable healthcare systems, and with Deloitte Consulting’s National Strategy and Operations Healthcare Provider Practice.  His client services focus at Falcon Consulting lies primarily in the delivery of revenue throughput improvement and operating model transformation through the enablement of optimized technologies.  As Executive Director of Professional Services, Matt leads the service line that is supported and executed by a group of highly skilled and dedicated consultants.

Steve Hayter

VP of Technology Solutions

Steve has over thirty years’ experience in information technology and over twenty years in healthcare IT. Previously, Steve served as CIO of three verticals within the University of Washington Medicine organization, led a national team of Epic analysts, and directed the development, implementation and execution of Providence Health & Services Community Connect Program. While serving as the Senior Director for Community Connect for Providence Health & Services, Steve oversaw the development of all Epic integration strategies for joint ventures and developed the health information exchange (HIE) connectivity strategy for community based physicians and hospitals over the five state system. Steve has also served as a board member for the Providence/Swedish joint venture One Health Port, the Washington State HIE, and the Jefferson Health Information Exchange in Medford, OR. Steve has over eighteen years’ experience with Epic as a customer and brings an in-depth understanding of the power and value of an integrated delivery system in the healthcare market.

Dan Stoke

VP of Client Relations

Daniel (Dan) Stoke has over twenty years’ professional experience in the healthcare IT industry. Previously, Dan served as a member of several executive/leadership teams for consulting and vendor firms. He has developed a strong reputation as a trusted advisor and partner with his clients through his genuine “client first” approach to solving business problems. Dan has worked across the healthcare industry spectrum with acute and ambulatory providers, public and private entities, state and local governments, and vendors to deliver software solutions, mobile solutions, and professional resource solutions. Prior to joining Falcon, Dan served as the Vice President of Community & Payer Markets for Medfusion. Dan earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas.

Nichole Firmani

Director of Operations

Nichole is responsible for designing and maintaining Falcon's internal operations, including payroll, human resources, accounts payable and accounts receivable.  She honed her communication and organizational skills while working as a Member Services Representative for a credit union, working at MIT's financial aid office, and teaching for several years at the elementary school level.

Matt Rosenthal

Service Delivery Lead - Performance Improvement

Matt has over a decade of experience partnering with healthcare providers on their most complex strategic and technical transformations. His previous experience includes Epic Systems, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s Primary Care Information Project, and Deloitte Consulting’s National Strategy & Operations Healthcare Provider Practice. His background provided invaluable experience leading mission-critical initiatives across inpatient, outpatient, clinical, and revenue cycle contexts. Matt has helped shape some of the largest and most complex organizations across the country and always brings a client-first focus.

Steve Weichhand

Service Delivery Lead - Clinical Operations Improvement

Steve is responsible for the strategic leadership of our Inpatient, Inpatient Ancillary, and Clinical Optimization service lines. Steve entered the healthcare IT industry at Epic Systems and holds certifications in ten Epic applications. At Epic, he served on the implementation team as a project manager for several high profile clinical implementations. Steve has founded our Provider Precise offering which has been driving significant coordination of care improvement and compliant financial gain.

Jason Jones

Service Delivery Lead - Affiliate Strategy and Deployment

Jason is seen as an industry expert in the design, implementation and optimization of client affiliate solutions. During Jason’s six year tenure at Epic Systems, he was part of their initial community connect solution offering and was heavily involved in the solution refinement and re-branding to Connect. Jason has supported numerous organizations around the country through all phases and always provides a deeply founded perspective on what the client needs vs. the technology solutions available.

Ian Strug

Service Delivery Lead - Revenue Integrity

Ian began his career in healthcare in 2010 at Epic Systems Corporation, where he aided large provider organizations implement Epic’s revenue cycle management tools in both the acute and outpatient settings. Ian then joined Deloitte Consulting’s National Strategy & Operations Healthcare Provider Practice in 2012, where he focused primarily on assisting large, integrated, academic health systems navigate post-merger integration and the operational transformation associated with revenue cycle management and systems implementation. In addition to providing client service in these areas, Ian takes a particular academic interest in healthcare M&A activity, and leads Falcon Consulting’s eminence work within that area.

Steven Sanders

Service Delivery Lead - Home Health

Steven has over a decade of management experience in several different fields. Steven spent six years in both business and project management positions in the field of third party human capital management. He then spent four years at Epic, specializing in implementing their home care suite of products with additional experience in revenue cycle and ambulatory applications. He also had extensive internal responsibilities on the home care team including Director of Pre-implementation, Customer Application Success Owner, and was the Workflow Success Owner for palliative care. Since Epic, Steven has led successful projects in the fields of P&C insurance at American Family Insurance and financial services at CUNA Mutual Group. As a Manager, Steven will be developing Falcon's home care related lines of service.

Katie Brooks

Senior Talent Manager

Katie has over 13 years of Healthcare IT experience including five years leading human resource and recruiting operations and eight years of extensive system implementation experience with the Epic and Cerner systems. She has a diverse background in Epic’s revenue cycle applications: ADT, Prelude, Hospital Billing, Professional Billing, and Single Billing Office. She also worked extensively with change management, project management, and interfaces. Katie has a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems from Illinois State University and a Master’s degree in Public Health from Benedictine University. Katie is responsible for recruiting and talent management. Prior to joining Falcon, Katie worked for Advocate Healthcare in Chicago and as a leader/consultant for Tango2, Healthia Consulting and maxIT.
